Soror Sophia is a practitioner and student within the western esoteric magical tradition.
What does that mean exactly? Western Esoterism is a general term used to describe the group of magical traditions that developed in western Europe in the 19th and 20th century. The various lineages within this category are unified by their shared influences that reflect the cultural discoveries, trends, technologies, and concerns of their moment in history. The traditions in this group are influenced by Hermetism/Neo-Hermeticism, Greek and Kemetic spirituality, Gnosticism, Kabalah, and general influences from the Abrahamic faiths.
Soror Sophia’s academic background is in Fine Art, and she has spent years studying tarot, shadow work modalities, and Western Ceremonial Magic. Her personal practice can be best described as part of the contemporary Goddess movement within the Western Esoteric framework.
Through her services, Soror Sophia aims to help those along their path of healing, discovery, and devotion through a nuanced, grounded, and humorous attitude.
The Emerald Tablet of Hermes Trismegistus famously notes:
‘That which is above is from that which is below, and that which is below is from that which is above,’
This is often paraphrased as, “As above, so below,” and to give a brief and flawed explanation, this describes the belief that the fundamental principles of the smallest things, are made up of, affect, and parallel the largest things, and vice versa. How the microbes on our skin parallel the way we, the organic life on Earth, live on her surface. The global conflicts and tensions on a world stage parallel the conflicts and tensions between friends, lovers, neighbors. Through this framework, the journey of inner peace is not merely for the sake of you and whomever is tired of your BS. It is for the sake of the collective to journey towards a peaceful world. Because at the end of the day, we are all individuals and a collective, simultaneously. As above, so below.
